TOPICS:

  • “Views from the Trust Office.”  Anna Moyers Stone, MidWestOne Bank, will provide some insight on where Iowa trust departments have been, where they are, and where they are going in the ever-changing tax landscape. Come for the laughs, stay for the question & answer, and enjoy the opportunity to learn more about how your friendly trust officers may help your clients in the 21st century.
  • “Trust Revitalization Provisions.” Paul Morf, Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC and President of the Iowa Academy of Trust and Estate Counsel (IATEC), will review the amended provisions proposed by the IATEC and share how the changes will provide flexibility in Iowan’s crafting their legacies and reduce the flow of trust business out of Iowa and into other trust-haven states. Paul will also touch on other legal developments that impact philanthropic and estate planning for high net worth families, business owners and farmers, including the Secure Act which reduces opportunities to stretch inherited IRAs.
  • "Trends in Private Philanthropy." Carley Umstead and Shawna Huls, RSM US LLP, will feature innovative models of philanthropy that transcend traditional charitable giving.
  • “Donor-Advised Charitable Giving Funds.” We will close with a session on how donor advised funds are a great tool to assist your clients with their charitable giving goals. Susan Willey and Michelle Beisker, Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation will present at the Cedar Rapids event and Shelly Maharry, Community Foundation of Johnson County, will present in Coralville.
